Alex King, Director & Price to Win Analyst
Alex has overall responsibility for delivering our products and services. Before co-founding Amplio Services, Alex worked for Thales as specialist in Price to Win & Competitive Intelligence. Alex is renowned for the accuracy of his predictions which have developed into our unique process. Alex worked on multi-billion pound bids and projects in a variety of industries including Defence & Aerospace, Telecoms & Air Traffic Management. Alex also has customer-side experience of producing an Initial Gate Business Case (IGBC) for a Cat A (£400m+) Ministry of Defence project.
He has multiple qualifications from the Association for Project Management (APM). Alex is a member of the Association for Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) & a fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management (ISMM).
Alex holds an undergraduate degree from Cardiff University in Business Administration. He also has a Masters in International Relations from Staffordshire University.
Lawrence Dack, Price to Win Analyst
Lawrence is a Price to Win Analyst for Amplio and also Managing Director at Telaugos Solutions Ltd. Telaugos are a successful, growing company providing decision support services to organisations, notably Niteworks which is a partnership between the UK MOD, Dstl and industry.
Price to Win is a sensitive area and Amplio has internal firewalls preventing conflict of interests. Therefore, Lawrence is able to lead assignments that other analysts may not be able to. Also, some customers also prefer Lawrence’s skillset which includes considerable experience in problem visualisation, problem structuring, modeling, and operational analysis:
- Problem definition and description using Soft Systems Methodology
- Software engineering and programming in several languages, including C++, C, and VBA for Excel
- Architecting languages and methodologies, including UML & MODAF
- Mathematical modeling and analysis in System Dynamics, Excel and Matlab
Before founding Telaugos, Lawrence was a Senior Consultant with EDS, now HP, for nearly 5 years. He has worked on several challenging decision support tasks, including tasks in support of Operation Herrick in Afghanistan, and has a good understanding of Defence issues and equipment programmes. These skills naturally transfer across to our Price to Win service.
Vania Nikolova, Market Analyst
Vania has responsibility for our pre-bid Price to Win activities. This includes maintenance of our Price to Win tool 'Eucles', Cost Forecasting research and tracking the competitive landscape of our key industries. Vania is an experienced in modelling and enjoys the challenge of blending tangible and intangible factors into our analysis.
Vania is fluent in English and Bulgarian, she is also conversational in Spanish.
Vania earned her PhD in Maths at Plovdiv University. She holds two Masters Degrees, one in Energetics and Electrical Engineering and the other in Applied Mathematics. Vania's undergraduate degree is in Applied Mathematics.
Paul Hutchings, Non-Executive Director
Paul was appointed Non-Executive Director for his reputation and experience as an elite Business Capture professional. He is an experienced business leader with a proven business winning and delivery track record. His experience spans over 20-years in the Aerospace & Defence industry, both in the UK and overseas. Specifically, Paul has headed up two multi-billion pound service transformation bids leading multi-national consortium teams.
He was the second UK national to achieve the Shipley Capture Expert Capture Manager CECM accreditation. Paul is a Chartered Director, Chartered Marketer and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).
Paul holds an undergraduate degree from Southampton University in Mathematics with Computer Studies. He also holds a Diploma in Company Direction.
Frank Dufficy, Non-Executive Director
Frank was appointed Non-Executive Director for his remarkable experience in putting together complex, multi-stakeholder deals in several industries. Franks legal, commercial and business-case skills are an essential input into the operations strategy of Amplio. Frank graduated from North Carolina State University Summa Cum Laude in political science specialising in Sino-Soviet-American rapprochement. Afterwards he earned a Graduate Diploma in Law and became a solicitor.
Frank currently works in the City of London working on large deals often related to Public Finance Initiative (PFI) contracts. Frank is renowned for his ability to understand and balance risks whilst maintaining the attractiveness of doing a deal. Frank holds several senior and prestigious positions. These include:
- Independent Member of The Advisory Committee of ESI LLP (a joint investment fund between The Green Bank and Equitix).
- Chairman of John Laing Capital Management.
- Trustee of the Gurkha Welfare Trust and Chairman of its Governance Committee.
Frank competed in the Munich (1972) Olympics games in diving. He is a family man, married to Alison with three children; Georgia, Jack and Tom. He enjoys fell walking, country sports, salmon fishing, skiing and golf.
Emily Foster, Graphic Designer
Emily is a very talented designer who has lead the Amplio brand since our founding. Emily created everything from our logo to documents to our colour scheme. Emily is still part of our team and usually responsible for our best looking diagrams; as she is excellent with advanced design software like Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
Emily is available for freelance work. She can be contacted via her Blog, which also shows some of her other creative projects.
Emily holds a Bachelors degree in Illustration from the University of the West of England. She graduated in 2011 and has over 3 years experience of high-quality freelance work.
